To get out of your comfort zone you need first to get in…

We want to live a dream life or at least a better life. We want to have more money, more freedom, travel more, have a bigger house, roof terrace or at least a balcony we can squeeze in and drink a well-deserved cup of coffee or tea.

We are asking ourselves ‘’what we should do to create this better life?’’ We are listening to motivational speakers and read books written by business gurus and they keep on preaching ‘’ get out of your comfort zone’’.

Look around…Almost everyone today wants to get out of the comfort zone because it seems that being inside this ineffective zone is only for losers.

Some of my friends, workaholics, sleep deprived and having nothing in their life but work, keep on saying ‘’I just need to stop being lazy and get out of my comfort zone…then I can live a better life’’.

I know you might say ‘’but if you want to live a different life you need to work hard and do the things others will not do’’.

I am with you! I agree…

But to be able to create extraordinary things you need from time to time get back to comfort zone and recharge your batteries.

In other words – to get out of your comfort zone you need first to get in.

What is a comfort zone?

It’s a place where you feel at home, relaxed and secure. I believe every human being should have this type of zone in order to find some rest for his soul and get some energy.

Only then, in a healthy state of mind and body, you can step out of your comfort in order to create, change, have an impact on other people’s life. Only then you have enough of energy to do your daily workouts, run several projects at the same time and socialize to inspire and motivate others.

But what normally is happening… There is a generally accepted image of a superhero who is always out of the comfort zone achieving extraordinary results. It seems like he never sleeps and never has moments when he want to cry on the floor of his living room. He managed to control all his emotions and always.

We think ‘’this is the way to be’’.

The result – exhausted, sleep deprived, depressed human being is blaming himself of still being in comfort and promising to himself that if he will struggle longer, work harder and leave this f*cking comfort zone, then finally he will start living his dream life.

Seriously? If a person is suffering food poisoning and you will make him to eat a greasy double cheeseburger I doubt he will feel better.

‘’Normal’’ human being will not be able to create something extraordinary if he is exhausted, even if he will push himself thousand hundred miles away from his comfort zone.

Don’t take me wrong. I fully agree that if you want to have different results in life you will need to do something you never did before. But if you are already exhausted, then don’t get even more frustrated by blaming yourself ‘’it’s because I am too lazy to get out of my comfort zone’’.

To achieve great results and be creative we need to be in the state of flow. So maybe we need to go back to our comfort from time to time and stop working so hard on ourselves?
